History of the temple
has that Lava and Kusa, the children of Rama lived in this spot. Lord Rama was
performing Ashwamedha yagna to prove his superiority over the neighboring
kingdoms. “Ashwa” meaning horse was released and made to run across various kingdoms,
nd who so ever imprisoned the horse had to fight Lord Rama. Once when the horse
did not return, Lord Rama sent his brothers initially to go in search of it and
recover it. The horse was actually caught by Lava and Kucha. When Baratha,
Shatrugna and Lakshamana failed to return, Lord Rama himself went in search of
the horse to retrive it. On this occasion he is said to have met Lava and
Kusha. They had battled with Rama himself without realizing that he was their
father. As the youthful youngsters pursued a war here, the spot was called as
Siruvar Por Puri. (Siruvar implies kids, Por Puri means pursuing a war, in
Thamizh). This spot is presently called as Chinnambedu, which initially was
Siruvar Ambu Edu (youngsters who took their bolts for the battle).
People who want to buy
a home for themselves need to visit this place once and the wish is immediately
granted. Once their wishes are satisfied, the enthusiasts perform 'milk
